Overpayments - Practical Recovery -
Housing Benefit and Council Tax Benefit |
|
| OCS is delighted to offer a workshop
day - "overpayments - practical recovery". |
|
| This course is suitable for those who
need to know how to recover legitimate debts from claimants,
landlords, letting agents and others. A knowledge of the law of
overpayments would be helpful. However, much of the day is about
enforcing recovery outside social security legislation. Some of the
discussions and debates are likely to be sensitive and delegates
should bear in mind the need for confidentiality. |
|
| The program
will include: |
- Recovery from estates,
- Bankruptcy
- Recovery via the Courts
- Common law
- Charges on property and other assets
- Freezing bank accounts
- Splitting overpayments where there is more than one target,
- Sharing information and data protection
- Using bailiffs and tracing agents
- Good and bad practice
|
| As well as a number of presentations and
practical exercises, the day will specifically include the latest
legislation and case law updates. Detailed notes, slides and
exercises are included. |
|
| Fee: £175 for non-HBINFO members, £160
for HBINFO members. Book three places, get a
fourth place free (free places may be carried forward
and used on any subsequent HBINFO training event). This fee
covers refreshments, lunch and all training materials. |
