Business Rates and BID Supervisor

Bassetlaw District Council

We are looking to appoint a supervisor to line manage our small Business Rates billing and collection team. Located in Worksop, you will be responsible for the day-to-day administration of the Business Rates billing and collection and the billing and collection of the local Business Improvement District (BID) levies for the district of Bassetlaw.  You must therefore have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal and the ability to deal with sensitive situations and confidential information.

Among other qualities, you will also have:-

  • Significant experience of working in a Local Taxation or Valuation office at an officer level or above
  • Advanced practical and procedural knowledge of National Non-Domestic Rates regulations, policies and working practices
  • Experience of working to tight deadlines and in a performance-driven environment
  • Ability to work as part of a team and managing own workload with minimum supervision
  • A minimum of  5 GCSE (grade 4-9 or C and above) to include Maths and English (or relevant equivalent)
  • Good analytical skills and in depth knowledge of complex legislation
