Compliance Officer

Chelmsford City Council

Chelmsford City Council is looking for an enthusiastic, logical and inquisitive person to investigate potential inaccuracies in Council Tax discounts identified via a data-matching project. You will be responsible for tracing people who owe Council Tax in order to increase collection rates.  Ideally, you will have previous Council Tax experience but equally important is the ability to adapt to new technology and to assimilate information quickly and process it logically, accurately and non-judgmentally.

There will be contact with customers, so a good telephone manner and high standards of literacy and numeracy are also required. You will need to be self-motivated, proactive, capable of prioritising your workload and liaising well with colleagues both within and outside the Council.
Chelmsford City Council is committed to safeguarding vulnerable groups and expects all employees to share this commitment and have a range of policies and procedures in place which promote safeguarding and safer working practices across our services. The Council's Safer Recruitment process contains pre-employment vetting which includes safeguarding training, obtaining references and ensuring compliance with the Disclosure and Barring Service process.
