Council Tax (Recovery) Officer Fixed term

A vacancy for a one year fixed term contract has arisen in the Revenues Team of the Mid Kent Revenues and Benefits Partnership for a conscientious, motivated individual to deal with recovery of Council Tax and Business Rates debts for both Maidstone Borough Council and Tunbridge Wells Borough Council. The Revenues Team deals with high volumes of correspondence which needs to be turned around within the corporate timescales. This post predominately deals with the recovery and enforcement of debts following the Magistrates Court hearing.

You need to be a good communicator and have a sound knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel. You will need to effectively communicate by telephone, face to face and in writing. Candidates should have experience in local government. Whilst ideally you should have knowledge of the Academy Information System software package and Anite@Work Document Management system, full training will be given.

The successful applicant will need to work from Maidstone Borough Council’s offices and will be employed on Maidstone Borough Council’s terms and conditions.

The Council considers this to be a customer focused role and the ability to converse at ease with customers adapting communication style to suit differing audiences and provide advice in accurate spoken English is fundamental to the role.

This is a full time position on a fixed term contract for one year.
