What we are looking for

 

  • At least 3 years current/recent Council Tax processing experience in either billing, recovery or both with a Local Authority, remote processing service or agency.
  • Experience of assessing a wide range of work including but not limited to:-
  • Administering and processing all types of council tax billing and recovery work, within agreed targets, including the negotiation of payment arrangements and the monitoring of subsequent recovery.
  • Compiling and maintaining records regarding the occupation and ownership of property ensuring that the correct information is extracted from letters, emails, claim forms, survey forms, service requests, etc.
  • Determining applications for discounts, exemptions, disregards and reductions after gathering all relevant information and verifying the circumstances of the case.
  • To assist in the review of all discounts, exemptions and reductions.
  • Setting up different payment methods as required ensuring compliance with Direct Debit rules as necessary.
  • To deal with returned mail to ascertain new contact address, update systems and send copy demand notices etc.
  • To monitor customer accounts in credit to ensure that the credit is genuine and is allocated appropriately to reduce arrears or refunded as necessary.
  • Experience of using computerised Revenues and Benefit Processing Systems- Northgate, Capita Academy, and Civica Open Revenues.
  • Experience of using computerised Document Management Systems including, iclipse, Anite, Civica W2, IDOX, Northgate workflow or similar.
  • Excellent numeracy and literacy skills, with a good general knowledge of IT and Microsoft programs.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills with experience of dealing with inbound and outbound customer enquiries by phone, letter, or email format.
  • You must be proactive and highly self-motivated, comfortable working as part of a team or on individual tasks with the drive to get a job done both quickly and accurately with minimum supervision.
  • Ideally you will live within 100 mile travelling distance to either of our offices at Skipton and Warrington.
