Experienced Revenues and Benefits Assessment Officers


About us

We provide fully managed services with a customer focused approach to provide resilience, improve service delivery and efficiency for Local Authorities across the UK.

What we are looking for

  • At least 3 years current/recent Revenues/Housing Benefit/ Council Tax Reduction processing experience with a Local Authority, remote processing service or agency.
  • Experience of assessing a wide range of work including but not limited to:-
  • HB/CTR New Claims, Change of circumstances, Reviews including claims from the Self Employed, Students, Person’s from Abroad, HBMS, RTI and VEP.
  • Council Tax Billing and Recovery work including changes in circumstances and occupancy, property exemptions, discounts, discount disregards, disabled relief, refunds and transfers.
  • Business Rates assessment work, including payment arrangements, changes in occupancy/circumstances, refunds, discounts and reliefs.
  • Experience of using computerised Revenues and Benefit Processing Systems- Northgate, Capita Academy, and Civica Open Revenues.
  • Experience of using computerised Document Management Systems including, iclipse, Anite, Civica W2, IDOX, Northgate workflow or similar.
  • Experience of interpreting Council Tax/Business Rates legislation, Housing Benefit regulations and being able to interrogate systems to validate and explain the action taken by an assessment officer to a customer.
  • Excellent numeracy and literacy skills, with a good general knowledge of IT and Microsoft programs.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills with experience of dealing with inbound and outbound benefit/overpayment/debtor customer enquiries by phone, letter, or email format.
  • You must be proactive and highly self-motivated, comfortable working as part of a team or on individual tasks with the drive to get a job done both quickly and accurately with minimum supervision.
  • Ideally you will live within reasonable travelling distance to either of our offices at Skipton and Warrington.
