Principal Benefits ICT Officer

Tower Hamlets, London Borough of

Role Purpose

Tower Hamlets Benefits Service is looking to appoint a Principal Benefits ICT Officer.  With your thorough and detailed knowledge of ICT systems as they relate to Benefits, you will and act as the main point of contact on the day to day operations of all our Benefits ICT systems. You will help shape the future of our service by planning, testing and implementing future developments and enhancements all designed to ensure the best service for our residents and service users.  Experience of Northgate assessment and/or civica document image and workflow systems while not essential, would be a distinct advantage.

Key Responsibilities

  • To manage the work of the ICT System Support Officer
  • To be the main ICT contact within the Housing Benefit survey.
  • To produce a test schedule for all new releases to the Housing Benefit assessment system (Northgate) and the Document Management System (Comino) to ensure that all Housing Benefit scenarios are tested.
  • To thoroughly test year end procedures.
  • To ensure that all processes on the Batch scheduler complete correctly and to take remedial action where processes have not completed.



  • An in depth knowledge of Housing Benefits.
  • An ability to devise and run Business Objects and SQL reports
  • Experience of managing staff
  • Ability to work under pressure.
