Our Values

It’s great to know that you are interested in working with us at Coventry City Council. As a prospective employee, it is important that everyone who works for us is committed to our One Coventry values and shares our commitment to becoming a more diverse and inclusive organisation.

About the team we are recruiting to

The Revenues Service is a large team of more than 60 people working together to collect £340 million of corporate revenue to help the Council provide vital services to Coventry residents.  From council tax to business rates to invoices for stalls at the Godiva Festival, the team perform a range of roles to ensure we provide excellent services to residents and internal council departments and that ultimately, we maximise the collection of public funds.  The revenue we collect ensures the council can provide services from bin collections to looking after our parks and green spaces to providing the best possible chances in life for our looked after children.

Our team is uniquely placed within the council as we interact with every one of Coventry’s 140,000 residential properties and 9,000 commercial properties.  Every resident and customer we deal with has a unique set of circumstances - our team challenge those who can pay and don’t pay – applying a range of legal remedies to compel people to pay what they owe.  But the team also listen to and support those who can’t pay and help some of our most vulnerable residents find a way out of debt.

What is the job role?

You will oversee the management of a team within the Revenues service. You will provide operational direction for the Council's key revenue generating functions, ensuring an efficient and customer focussed service.

Reporting to senior management, you will also form part of the wider Revenue and Benefits management team. Which embodies One Coventry principles and provides leadership in the One Coventry style, to deliver effective outcomes for our residents.

If this sounds like the right challenge for you, then we would like to hear from you.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for someone with experience of working in a revenues environment and, or management experience.

We need a highly motivated individual to become part of the Revenues and Benefits management team. Your excellent communication and interpersonal skills will allow you to lead and inspire your teams, whilst promoting a culture which is positive, forward looking, results orientated and customer focussed.
