Job Description
Working within the dynamic and constantly changing area of our Revenues & Benefits department, you will be receive full training in order to deliver processing of NNDR / Council Tax changes in line with applicable legislation and using the procedures provided by our clients. You will also work to internal KPI’s in order to meet Customer expectations, whilst delivering high levels of accuracy at all times.
Main Responsibilities
- Process information and update accounts efficiently and accurately to ensure that information held in respect of business rate payers is correct and up to date.
- In line with legislation and local authority procedures, determine requests for any rate reliefs or exemptions.
- Process refunds in line with local authority procedures.
- Process completion notices where applicable and in line with customer expectations.
- Deal with and respond to enquiries through multiple channels including email or other written correspondence and where applicable, via telephone in an efficient manner whilst ensuring high levels of customer service are provided to business rate payers at all times.
- Comply with individual, team and business unit targets.
- Provide full engagement during training in order to deliver all of the above responsibilities.
- Maintain an up to date knowledge of procedures, regulations and systems using publications, briefing notes and bulletins, as well as attend external training sessions to improve wider skills.
- Maintain a constructive and positive attitude within the Business Centre taking on additional duties as and when required and contribute ideas to assist improvements.
- Regularly exceeds minimum contractual standards for productivity/accuracy.
- Meet the standards or deadlines required whilst performing all duties with minimum support once fully trained.
- Coaching and mentoring junior staff/colleagues (once fully trained).
- Shares best practice with colleagues and lead update sessions to wider team.
Qualifications/Skills Required
Essential:
- Experience of using either Northgate / Capita Academy / IBS (Civica OPEN Revenues) systems.
- Experience of using leading document management systems such as Information@Work (Anite), Information@Work Enterprise, Comino or similar.
- An in-depth knowledge of Council Tax Billing and / or Council Tax Recovery.
- At least 3 years current / recent Council Tax Billing and / or Council Tax Recovery experience gained within a Local Authority, through remote processing or via agency.
- Proven problem solving skills.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Excellent numeracy and literacy skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively (both verbally and written).
- Proactive and self-motivated.
- A strong knowledge of General Data Protection Regulations.
- Delivers under pressure with a flexible approach to work.
- IT competent due to the need to work and receive training remotely.
Desirable:
- Knowledge of legislation surrounding business rates.
- Past experience of processing business rates.
